You may have noticed that I´m quite a fan of the Mount and Blade Mod cRPG. It´s a medieval combat-based video game modification I´ve been playing for over 3 years now, because of several reasons: - balanced and rewarding gameplay - historical accuracy, armor and weaponwise - great community - regular updates, patches and fixes
and last but not least: the developer team aka Donkey Crew
Here´s the thing: two years ago, these guys asked the cRPG-community if they wanted an own game, heavily based on the beloved cRPG-mod, but overall better and massively improved. The community said "sure thing" and the developers started a tiny, inofficial donation pool, in which the community invested a bit so the project could get into shape (for the donators, it technically was a PRE-pre-purchase of a game that COULD be made back then, but actually it was mostly a big "thank you" from the community for the awesome work on the beloved cRPG-mod). This project, known as Melee: Battlegrounds, started to grow and there were regular updates, videos and forum discussions of the game; one day, a first alpha version was released to the people who helped with the first donations. And it looked great.
There is still a lot to do for them and a long way to go, but after knowing these people for a couple of years now, I believe that they can create something awesome. These guys are reliable and they will stick to their game and will continue to improve it even years after its release. You have to keep in mind that this game will not only be a simple medieval game grown out of a simple mod, it will be a game based on a fighting system which was tested, improved and polished for over three years now.
Alright, enough blabbering from my side, it´s time to show you what I´ve been talking about ! This thing is going to be totally amazing. dun dun dun duuuuuuun!
